*poofs into existence* heya everyone! i'm sorry about not posting or being active in forever :{ i've missed you all! <33 who all is still on here who remembers me? better yet- who all is still on who's from hamster hideout ? if that's you, hi!! if you're new, hi :0 ! ntmy :3
i just recently got reminded of hamsters (found an opening on tumblr to infodump about hamster tails of all things xp) and the interest in them got rekindled. i think i'm re-grieving anjou and hibiscus, too. anjou was.. i don't want to admit it, but she was honestly the best hamster i have ever had. she was my heart hamster. and hibiscus, i just... have a lot of guilt and shame about how her life and my time with her was. i wasn't in a good place mentally and had a lot happening and while i kept her alive and 'spoiled' in the eyes of someone who's ill informed about hams, i only did the minimum and did not give her the life she deserved. i've pushed it down since her passing and it's finally resurfacing in full force. sigh. anyway-
i'm finally cleaning out and giving away my hamster supplies- 75 gallon and everything. i made the decision a long time ago and am not changing it, that i'm not getting another hamster for a long time, at least. that time in my life has passed, and right now i definitely can not take care of a hamster- and i don't think i want to. but now it's becoming hard because since remembering my past hamsters, i miss them. i crave that thrill and feeling of getting and meeting a new little fuzzball- but it's just the idea of a hamster, not the reality, that i want. so yeah. it's suddenly very hard to be giving away my hamster stuff- even though i know i need to.
anyway. enough about me- how is everyone? any new club members, rodent or otherwise? catch me up! i'm going to try to be active on here more- i don't know how long the interest will last, but right now i'm feeling very motivated to chat and share tips about hamsters :] !!

Hi Calla!
I certainly remember and miss you! It's nice to see you again! Your legacy lives on here. I love that border for hamster of the month!
You should not feel bad about giving a hammy a loving home and a "the minimum" 75 gallon tank. Remember most hammies live in those tiny critterjails! If she wasn't with you, imagine where she might have ended up. Not some place better, I wouldn't wager.
No one here is a perfect owner... Sometimes I don't clean the cages as often as I should or I don't do free roaming time because I'm just too tired that day. Or I look the the veggie drawer and I forgot to get the hammy veg at the store. She lived a good long life with you. I remember as a kid many hamsters that my friends owned or were class pets met a very early demise because no one was properly taking care of them =( Hibiscus lived to an old age and she died peacefully.
I'm getting the itch for a new hamster too but we are doing a big clean and organizing of the house so I will wait until that's all done. One thing that helps me let things go as I am organizing is before I donate it or get rid of it thanking the items for helping me or being there when I needed it. Like thank you, red top for helping me with that job interview. That kind of thing.

i may try that- yeah, we’re doing lots of reorganizing and remodeling of our house too. i’m hoping to give all the hamster stuff to someone near me who may have a hamster or is planning to get one. we have a facebook group called buy nothing for our neighbourhood where people give things away for free- i’m going to give it away on there, hopefully there’s someone around here who can use the stuff.
