Please Help Snowey..!!

Soo ever since Taco passed away, I've been feeling super lonely without a lil ball of fluff to love on =C We went to Petco today to look and see if we could find a new adorable lil hammy...and well, we did....

INTRODUCING: Snowey the hamster!!

He's of course a White long haired Syrian hammy...and I love him to bits!! One problem though that I couldn't see very well at the store, are white hamsters supposed to have brownish bottoms? I am wondering if he has wet tail, and if I can get an over the counter medication for him? He's a bright eyed and active lil fella, so I'm just wondering if it's a petstore issue (not bathing because of bad conditions?) or what. We are already planning to see a veterinarian, but I believe they are closed tomorrow.

Can you post a picture of his bottom?
If it is wet tail, then you need to get to a vet ASAP (and ideally claim any costs back off Petco for selling you a 'faulty product'). I don't think any over the counter medication would cut it, you would need something prescribed by a vet.
Are his droppings normal? Does he still seem well in himself?
It's probably worth double checking his sex whilst you're at it too tbh.

Thank you for responding Spud..I just looked at him, and it looks like dried pee I think? He seems to have cleaned off the poop like stuff.. He won't let me look, and I'm afraid to handle him because he hasn't even been with us for a day...

How would you recommend me to hold him while taking the picture?

Also, as I'm sure you can imagine, he smells terrible..it makes me want to through up...I feel so bad that he's having to smell so bad..

He also has eaten one sunflower seed since he came home..the rest of the food is in his bowl.

Okay, thanks for giving me more info.

To get a picture, you can try and put him in a clear bottomed container and take one that way, or get someone else to take a photo/hold him whilst you take a photo. A video might come out as less blurry.
A strong smell would probably necessitate a vet check on it's own really.
When it comes to medical matters, don't be afraid to handle him- you're not trying to gain his trust, you're looking after his health.
Where do you think the smell is coming from? His bottom? His mouth? Or just him generally? Can you describe the smell?
I would try and tempt him to eat some more food- do you have any high value treats you can offer like safely cooked chicken or safe nuts, or even some uncooked porridge oats?

Good luck at the vets- can you book him in for an appointment any sooner?

I am not sure where the smell is coming from...since I haven't held him yet. I'll try to post pictures as soon as possible. The smell is a nauseating smell, it made me want to puke tbh

Oh dear..Upon further examining...I think Snowey is a girl I can't believe I actually might've got a girl!!

And the smell is coming from her bottom..I think she's having direaha, had to clean out some of the bedding.

I did get photos, and also the bottom doesn't feel wet. Do you think the pet store could have given her some food and it caused direaha??
