All The Stickied Posts - Would like input

Post by Kikya »

This is a resource list put together by WorldofHamsters. It has links to all of our stickied topics. I always appreciate input on these topics as I believe it's our combined experiences that make the hamster community stronger. I also feel like some of the newer members might not have seen all these topics so it's a good topic to refer to with questions.

Please feel free to comment or add to any discussion. Feel free to suggest topics that need to be added. Or if you want to write your own guide and post it, if it's full of quality information, I'm happy to sticky it as well.

I firmly believe a pinned topic is only as good as its formatting and accessibility, which means more pictures / descriptions, more pictures visible on the page using image codes rather than viewer links, more paragraph breaks, bullet points, bolded/italicized/underlined text to create better contrast, etc..

On the subject of more pictures, it would be great if post authors who are willing/able to edit their posts could get help from forum members sourcing non-blurry decently well lit pictures of hamsters, hamster supplies, general concepts (like what a large wheel / deep layer of bedding actually looks like) so that more pictures can be used and credited to their owners, and there is less need to use uncredited images from the internet.

I for one would be more than willing to help out with this! And it's a great way to get forum members more active / involved in these posts and in the community. Almost like having a ton of "hamster of the month" contests with the prize being your photo being put to practical use in an official stickied post LOL.

I'm not really sure how this could apply to "legacy" posts from the HHF, as there are a couple of those.. But there is an admirable amount of HCH originals in there, especially posts of your own, considering how young the forum is, and I think many of them could benefit from a few format tweaks and some HCH original photos!

Which posts do not have formatting? Please link below! If you can be more specific, then I can review for edits.

I think having more pictures is definitely a great idea. At the time when this forum was created, we had about a week's notice to get the entire site up and rewrite many helpful articles. I put the pictures I had at the time.

I only brought over a very few number of articles from HH with credit to the authors, I don't plan on changing them. If I have to change them, then I will just rewrite.

If anyone has pictures they would like to contribute, I am happy to edit the articles and add the pictures. Just submit them either to my PMs or in the comments on of the article and I will give credit.

Thanks for the input!
