Wall surfing??
So I got my adorable male Syrian hamster a week and half ago. He is literally so sweet, will climb into my hand and fall asleep on me. I love him. He is completely obsessed with gerber baby puffs though. Like he’s gotten used to me giving him one a day to get him used to associating me with good things (I think that’s why he’s so friendly) that now when he hears me in the room he expects it. If I’m quiet he just runs around his cage as usual but when he hears/sees me he sort of stands and scratches at the wall of the cage where I am. Nowhere else. He’s in a 1,110+sq in cage with 10 inches of bedding, extra substrates, enrichment and behaves normally all the time except for when he sees me. He chills out the second he gets the treat. Is this bad?

Re: Wall surfing??
Not bad at all! Hamsters are, for the most part, very food driven! My hamster usually ignores me, but when I have a treat, he will run to get it from me. That sounds awesome that your hamster is so comfortable and sleeps on you! That must mean he really likes you!Birdsarenotreal wrote: Mon Oct 13, 2025 11:58 am So I got my adorable male Syrian hamster a week and half ago.
