Bar Chewing?

I see it's been a while since anyone posted, but I just wanted to ask—did anyone try keeping a shallow dish of water in the playpen to distract from bar chewing? Also wondering if changing the location of the cage helped anyone. My hamster used to chew more when the cage was near loud areas, so I moved it to a quiet spot and it made a big difference.

I tried making a similar setup by cutting cardboard to fit the levels, then covering it with safe bedding and cleaning it often. It made the transitions easier for my hamster.
