Niteangel pedometer: how to measure distance ran?

With a Niteangel pedometer, it looks like it's recording the number of times the wheel goes round. How is that calculated into miles or km? I have it on an 11-inch wheel. He's usually only running a few hundred a night, but he is running most nights.

Okay... his record is half a mile one night. Usually he runs about a quarter mile or less. A year ago, he ran for a few hours a night.

I've had some hamsters stop running on their wheels a few months before passing away but others running up until a few days before... so I'm not sure how good of a measure it is for health.

It's still neat to know.
