Can hamsters eat chickpeas/garbanzo beans?

I was making a salad for lunch, and was using some canned chickpeas (or garbanzo beans depending what you call them) and I set some aside to give to my hamster. I searched online to double check whether they were safe and there was mixed opinions. Some say they are, and others say they are toxic, so I am not sure if they are safe or not.

If they are cooked, it should be fine. I wouldn't feed them raw.
