Hamster mix making my own question
Seems like most of the packaging states the dried weight for nutrition profile and the weight for cooked amount , how then do we calculate guaranteed analysis for the mix? Do we just use the dried nutrient profile?

Re: Hamster mix making my own question
Are you using it dried? If so, then the dried amount. If it’s not in the amount of measurement (like it’s tbsp or cups instead of grams) that you want, you can google a nutrition fact finder and search up your item. It won’t be exact, but it will be close enough! Make sure to use the same seed/ingredient for the nutrition finder. Shelled and hulled have different nutrition facts. Same with cooked and dried. Any other question I may be able to answer.
I’m pretty new to this (making my own right now) but for extra info I would check my questions on these posts: Bad stool (scroll down and you will find the start of everything, and it might be helpful just to read through it) and help with Homemade food mix (I have all the ingredients there, but some have been swapped out.)
I also have an amazing google sheet template that I got from someone, so lmk if you need me to help you find that! It helps you find the GA and does a lot of the math for you. It does take a bit of altering depending on your percentages of each category of food.
Any other questions, feel free to ask:

Re: Hamster mix making my own question
Hey there, if you are using dried ingredients you should use dried nutrient profile. For example, chicken's protein content changes vastly depending on the cooking method or if it's completely freeze dried.Swordiebrom wrote: ↑Fri Apr 11, 2025 9:18 pm Seems like most of the packaging states the dried weight for nutrition profile and the weight for cooked amount , how then do we calculate guaranteed analysis for the mix? I would start with some of these posts if you want to create your own mix.
