Any downsides of using a camera?

Post by NuggetHam »

I bought a Wyze v4 and I’m considering returning it. I haven’t fully used it yet but I’m wondering if there are cons of having a camera.

For example, does anyone here feel like they are compelled to skim through the footage every night? I already am a little OCD so I worry it will make it worse

And, I am feeling like this might invade my hamster‘s privacy (unless I only use it to make sure he’s ok every now and then??)

thank you!!

I don't think it would cause any problems; it might actually be fun to see what they do while we sleep! As for feeling a bit overconcerned about how they are at night and having to watch it everynight, all I can say is remember hamsters are solitary animals. They don't live in packs, and surely don't need humans and naturally know what they are doing. Hope this helps!

Having a camera like the Wyze Cam v4 can be helpful for checking on your hamster, but it can also have downsides. If you already feel a bit OCD, you might feel tempted to review footage often, which can add stress. Some people solve this by only checking the camera occasionally or enabling motion alerts instead of constant viewing. It won’t harm your hamster, but if it makes you anxious or obsessive, returning it could be a reasonable choice.
