So that's it, then
01/22/22 - 09/22/24 Last Wednesday I noticed Chione had suddenly lost weight and that her tail region was dirty. Yesterday I cleaned her up and realized she had some blood in her parts, and remembered something I never thought would happen to me. I googled. She matched all of the symptoms of Wet Tai...

Re: Weird thing popping out of my hamster's cheek
UPDATE 2 - Returning Visit It seems like the skin infection is being solved, the meds are working. However -- I reported Chione's seemingly decreasing appetite, and although at first the vet suggested it could be from age or due to stress from being moved to a different enclosure, he measured her w...

I am surprised that he didn't try to cut it off and cauterize or freeze it off, to prevent it from growing bac...

Re: Weird thing popping out of my hamster's cheek
UPDATE - What the vet said Vet suspects it could be due to allergy or something related to a bacterial/fungal infection. Prescribed two medications for Chione, can provide details if wanted. He also said I should fully clean the enclosure once every 2 weeks (as in changing all the bedding), which i...

Re: Weird thing popping out of my hamster's cheek
OMG, is that the same hammy who had a surprise preggo in a bin cage on HH? Yes it is common for dwarf hamsters to get ear warts, not sure about the cheek. I've heard they can be a result of a viral infection which means antibiotics won't help but they might be able to test the growth after removing...
