Re: What causes swelling in hamsters?
There can be a lot of causes, kidney issues, heart issues, a tumor or cyst. Older hamsters are prone to these issues. I tend to weigh my hamsters once a week and give them a health check: https://www.hamsterclubhouse.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=149

Re: Milk Thistle can help stop hissing from liver pain
So many commercial foods have artificial vitamins and minerals in them. These are basically worthless in most cases and just create expensive pee, for humans and animals. I saw on your other post that you were given some multi-vitamin drops too. Hamsters have very delicate liver and kidneys that ...

Re: vetriDMG can help stop some spasms
He said these particular spasms were likely caused by a neurological disease or problem. He didn't specify any specific diseases, though.Kikya wrote: Sun Jan 26, 2025 9:48 pm You seem to have a very unusual vet, more open to trying different treatments. Did he say what he thought was affecting your Syrian?

Re: New Syrian is not burrowing
Aww
It's ok! As long as he's happy. :) I've had two Syrians who didn't much like burrowing. They wouldn't really burrow unless I put a tube slanted downward into an empty spot of bedding. Then they _might_ crawl down and make a burrow. I guess they didn't like making tunnels but they'd make ...

Yeah, that sounds familiar. Get the treats first and then bite bite bite the hand.

Re: Help taming my new girlie
I'm sorry to say that I can't be of help. :( I've had a few dwarfs, ranging from gentle to biting... I think their individual personalities is the most important thing.
My bitey-ist hamster never stopped biting. I honestly think she enjoyed it. I upgraded little miss bitey to a larger enclosure ...

Re: Sealing the bottom of a Niteangel Vista cage?
Gah. It's 100% silicone all-purpose sealant.
I saw both aquarium 100% silicone sealant and all-purpose 100% silicone sealant mentioned on DIY posts, so I thought all-purpose would be fine. I've got a little one in there now.

Re: Sealing the bottom of a Niteangel Vista cage?
After reading Luna123's DIY guide , I bought some 100% silicone sealant and a caulking gun. I went around the bottom of the enclosure and also a few inches up the back. It was a bit messy, so I used a plastic scraper to get rid of some of the excess silicone. I am a little worried that a hamster ...

Aww
Yeah, give her space. Maybe she's tired from being brought to a new place.
