2 40 gallons in Texas

I know this is a long shot but I'm in no rush.

If someone in DFW area Texas needs a 40 gallon breeder, I have 2. One is a Zilla model with a sliding/locking lid. The other is a normal hinge lid. Must meet up locally. Message me if interested.

Re: New Syrian is not burrowing

It has been almost a year and HE WILL NOT BURROW!!!! He has done it a handful of times and that's it. He'll either sleep in a corner house, behind the wheel, or in his Niteangel burrow. He uses that the most but this boy won't dig even a little bit. I just don't understand. I just got him a 75 ...

Re: New Syrian is not burrowing

He's returned to sleeping behind the wheel, and started to use the house he was sleeping in as a toilet. He is burrowing just a little behind the wheel. Really just covering himself with bedding. I'm not sure if I should just accept all of this and give up on him 'being normal'.

Re: New Syrian is not burrowing

He is still not burrowing! I have not found any good corkwood in person so I may buy some online. Harder to find the perfect one online.

I fixed the cardboard I have to where it basically acts as a ceiling support for a tunnel (no cardboard) and put food down it. I don't believe he had tunneled ...

Re: New Syrian is not burrowing

So I put the cardboard tube in the bedding at an angle. He went in and couldn’t get out. His feet kept slipping. I took it out. Now that I am thinking about it, I may cut out the bottom and use it as a ‘support’ so he can get a grip on the bedding.

Re: New Syrian is not burrowing

I can tell you from experience that sometimes when you adopt an older hamster, they "forget" some of their natural behaviors.

Some you can teach them with help... like using burrow starters to help encourage them to dig

And somethings they will never do, like sometimes they always want a water ...

New Syrian is not burrowing

Last Saturday I picked up a long-haired male Syrian from a family that didn't have the time for him. Approx 8 months to a year. He was kept in what I believe was a 5 gallon. I only saw it in the back of their vehicle and declined to take it with me when offered, but I'm not too sure if it was a 5 or ...

Re: Wet bedding/bugs in cage :(

Update...cleaned his cage out. Took out all the bedding, cleaned hides, threw some cheap ones away, and found a couple of trouble spots once I got the cage cleaned out. One patch looks like a urine stain on the bottom and the other was a bunch of bedding/junk stuck to the wall. I replaced half the ...

Re: Wet bedding/bugs in cage :(

Sooo we have booklice again in Pineapple's cage. I should note I never saw them in Speedor's cage, which was on a shelf under Pineapple's cage. Speedor passed away last night which is likely unrelated.

The booklice essentially exploded! Their numbers were very low and not a problem up til now. They ...
