Re: Possible mods to deal with spam?

Would it be possible to reduce spam by requiring new members' posts to be approved by a moderator initially? I have seen this work quite well on other forums. It would be a lot of work though...

Re: Lots of spam posting lately

I do tend to go on a bit of a reporting spree, and then the lovely Kikya gets rid of them all! :)

Re: Enclosure Decorations

They're having a bit of a break, but have a look at some of the beautiful pottery made by Kleiner Robos Hamsterwerkstat.

Spray holders etc. are very cute, but are also multi-fuctional :)
Do you have a specific theme you'd be going for?

Re: Wooden Plaform Suggestions

Oh, that's a good point! Yes, importing from the UK was nuts. :( I only bought a few choice things from Henry's Happy Homes.

I love Henry's Happy Homes- it's such a shame it's so hard to order them if you don't live in the UK.
I highly recommend the company- I've had no issues with any of their ...

Loads of rescues in the UK recommend beech chips as an additional substrate for hamsters. :)

Re: Should I get another hamster?

What a kind thing to do- I'm sure that's a big relief for you too, even if it was an emotional decision.

I'm sure she'll find a lovely new family who can give her species-appropriate care soon enough. 🥰

Re: Donation of my Hamilton supplies

I'm so sorry to hear about Hamilton.
I donated Spud's set up too- do you have any family friends with hamsters?
It might be worth emailing the local school to see if anyone needs a better enclosure there.

Good luck with it all :)

Re: Buying Pets From Pet Stores

Same here, I don't support breeding animals as pets anyway :)
I only intend to rescue animals, not support the breeding of them (guide dogs etc. are different obviously).

wouldn’t breeding them to be happier in captivity improve their quality of life? so many hamsters are so stress when kept ...

Re: Unpopular Hamster Opinions

I completely agree- Spud never chewed anything other than her food/treats, and she never had any teeth issues (thank goodness). She enjoyed destroying things- cardboard boredom breakers to get too treats etc., but never gnawed on them.
People used to think guinea pigs had to have chew toys, but this ...
