Some positive hamster news (for once!)

Hello everybody,

Here in the UK, proper hamster care is becoming much more mainstream (YAY!!!).
To reflect this, many organisations have upgraded their minimum cage size to 100cm by 50cm (775 square inches). These organisations include Happy Hamsters UK, the Blue Cross, PDSA and many others
Pets at Home still has a (very) long way to go, but it is starting to stock a much more natural selection of treats and enrichment for all small animals. Also, they are starting to realise that all hamsters are solitary (I'm still doing research on Campbells, but I'm making a generalisation based on hamsters found in the UK) https://www.tiktok.com/@furbabyfamily20 ... 74?lang=en

Not to mention that Happy Hamsters UK's hamster fair looks like it is going to be really popular again this year.

I'm hoping things will continue to improve, and the more we talk about and campaign for proper hamster care, the better.

I'm really excited because I'm going to the hamster fair!!! It looks amazing, and Victoria Reachel is going to be talking! It might seem crazy to some people to go to a different country to talk about hamsters but not at all to me

Ich finde es wirklich schön zu sehen, dass sich bei der Hamsterhaltung langsam etwas bewegt. 100 x 50 cm als Mindestmaß sind zwar noch kein riesiger Schritt, aber deutlich besser als viele der kleinen Standardkäfige, die man früher überall gesehen hat. Auch dass mehr Wert auf natürliche Beschäftigung und artgerechte Ernährung gelegt wird, ist positiv. Hoffentlich setzt sich diese Entwicklung weiter fort und immer mehr Menschen informieren sich vor der Anschaffung eines Hamsters über seine tatsächlichen Bedürfnisse.
