Re: Dark color near anus?
Update: I checked on him this morning, and BOTH testicles were enlarged... I think he may have just been a little warm, which we in the hamster community know... ahem... enlarges testicles! Plus, I heard him running in his wheel for a while last night (I was happy to be kept up by it, lol), and he c...

Re: Dark color near anus?
Hi again, I just took a picture of what he has going on down there (you can see part of his cute face). I'm not sure if it's his testicles or something else, but I don't like the looks of this. Here's a link to the Imgur: https://imgur.com/a/Dc2fGjM I would appreciate any answers... Thank you so muc...

Re: Dark color near anus?
Thank you!
Yes, he's 100% his frisky and adorable self (I love him sooooo much). I read that it could just be coloration with age... he is at least 1.5 years old (I got him in October of 2023, and I think he was around 6 months old by then).
I appreciate your response!

Dark color near anus?
Hi all, I hope everyone and their hammies are well! My beautiful Buttercup is so full of energy and I love him so much. He's still very happy and healthy and is running almost every night, eating everything still (lol), and cute, happy, and healthy. But I noticed today and yesterday that the area ar...

Re: Help taming my new girlie
Well, I think fear can manifest as aggression or boldness... My Buttercup wouldn't let me touch him for three months, but I'll never forget how bold he was (coming out, curious, smelling everything) for the first few weeks I had him. Only when he got more comfortable and trusted me did he calm down,...

Re: Help taming my new girlie
Keep us posted on the babies! Also, I think rodent mill hammies are just scared. My current hammy (Buttercup) was from PetCo (I know, I shouldn't support them but he was so crumpled up in the corner of the tank that I thought he was dead-- I had to save him), and he was "sassy" for a few m...

Re: The Do’s and Don’ts of Hamster Taming
Hi there,
Aw, your new ham seems so cute! What a little love.
I'd still suggest giving him/her a few days, and then you can start to go in for some pets (followed by sniffs, of course) and some treats.
Good luck!
